New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Seven (14 March)

Here I am taking one last look at Central Park as we headed back to the hotel for our transfer. I've had the most amazing time on my Big Adventure and have lots of wonderful memories.

This was the first time I'd joined Barnaby on his travels but I hope I'm going to get to go on future trips, even if they aren't around the world. When I do I'll tell you all about them on this site.

New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Six - Evening (13 March)

We hadn't been eating very healthily in New York so we bought a fruit salad from Grand Central Market tonight and ate it in our room.

Here's Barnaby and me with Kiki, our Kiwi friend.

New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Six - Morning (13 March)

Here I am on the Staten Island ferry.

Would you believe the street where we caught the bus back to Manhattan is called Morris Street :-).

New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Four - Afternoon (11 March)

On our way to Central Park, we had a look round Grand Central Station, which has to be one of the most stunning railway terminuses in the world.

I also had a fabulous time at the Met.

New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Four - Morning (11 March)

American hotels don't usually provide breakfast as well as a bed so we had breakfast at the Pax cafe next door to the Helmsley yesterday and this morning we got a takeaway from there.

Barnaby and I asked for something chocolatey and we weren't disappointed: not only did we have hot chocolate to drink but a huge chocolate filled croissant to go with it :-).

New York: Day One Hundred and Forty-Two (9 March)

Here's Miss Robb and her Mummy wearing the coats they bought in San Francisco. It was a good job the jackets were fleece-lined because the temperature in New York was only 1 degree Celcius.

Barnaby was very grateful for his scarf (although you can't really see it in this photo) and I definitely needed my jumper back on. I was also happy to have the insulation of the rucksack :-).

San Francisco: Day One Hundred and Forty (7 March)

We really enjoyed our boat trip on the Lovely Martha and got very close to the bridge.

Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious icecream at Pier 39.

San Francisco: Day One Hundred and Thirty-Five (3 March)

Here's Barnaby and me in front of San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

As you can see we had a gorgeous day. Often the bridge is swathed in mist.

Fiji: Day One Hundred and Thirty-Two (29 February)

If you look really hard you might be able to spot me (and Barnaby) in this picture inside our bure. It's very nice isn't it?

Fiji: Day One Hundred and Thirty (27 February)

Here's Barnaby and me meeting one of the locals in our bure. I think it's a kind of lizard.

I wouldn't have wanted to get this close if it was much bigger.

Fiji: Day One Hundred and Twenty-Nine (26 February)

I tried out the lounger and hammock too :-).

I think I preferred the lounger. I was a bit worried about falling off the hammock even though Barnaby was next to me.

Fiji: Day One Hundred and Twenty-Eight (25 February)

I enjoyed exploring the resort, even though the sun wasn't shining.

I had a special song I sang when we were in New Zealand and the skies clouded over called 'The Sun Has Got His Hat On'. I needed to start singing it in Fiji too but I only know the chorus.

You can see our bure in the back of one of these photos. Isn't it big? (Actually we only stayed in half of it :-)).

Cathedral Cove: Day One Hundred and Twenty-Two (19 February)

It is possible to walk through the "Cathedral" to the adjacent Mare's Leg Cove (as long as it's not high tide).
Here I am inside it :-).

Coromandel: Day One Hundred and Twenty One (18 February)

Here I am trying a spot of gardening at the Ngatea Water Gardens. I found the ground a bit hard :-).

Rotorua: Day One Hundred and Ten – Afternoon (6 February)

Rotorua has another famous Green Lake (Lake Rotokakahi) alongside a bright Blue one (Lake Tikitapu) so we drove out to see them after our tour of Whakarewarewa.

Rotorua: Day One Hundred and Ten – Morning (6 February)

We chose the ingredients for our Hangi from chicken or mutton, carrots, cabbage, sweetcorn, kumara (sweet potato) and potato and put them in a box with our name on.

Then the lady put all the boxes in a bigger box in the ground where the food would be cooked by the rising steam. It takes quite a long time but the end result was delicious.

Rotorua: Day One Hundred and Nine – Afternoon (5 February)

Back at the motel we tried out the plunge pool. Very relaxing :-).

Here I am beside the Champagne Lake. I was happier to perch here than by the sign saying "Devil's Bath" which refers to the Grandfather of all the lakes at Wai-O-Tapu (Lake Ngakoro).

Isn’t it an amazing green colour? That’s caused by chemicals, which make it acidic and means nothing can live in it because it’s extremely poisonous. Fortunately the bad smell keeps people away.

Taupo: Day One Hundred and Eight (4 February)

After we'd looked round the Craters of the Moon, we did manage to find the prawn park and went on the organised tour. I thought prawns were pink but they actually have blue pincers.

We saw inside the hatchery and nurseries and fed the baby prawns. Then we went on a nature walk, where we could also feed the trout. The grown ups enjoyed using the thermal foot bath and Barnaby and I got to meet Shawn the Prawn :-).

While we were in Nelson we also discovered a street called Barnaby Way. They must have known we were coming :-).

Christchurch: Day Ninety-Five (22 January)

The change of car meant I lost my special seat I’d been travelling in all round the South Island (between the two front seats) but Miss Robb was pleased because now we had a radio that worked – and a bigger engine for getting up the hills.

Here's the magnificent view from "the ZigZag". Definitely worth taking the windier road for :-).

I might not have had a go at steering but I really enjoyed the cruise on TSS Earnslaw too and watching the sheep shearing was fascinating.

Here's Barnaby saying hello to another New Zealand local. This is a giant statue of the Kiwi, the nation's national bird and where New Zealanders get their nickname from.

Doubtful Sound: Day Eighty-Nine (16 January)

I loved our trip to Doubtful Sound too.

The best bit was The Sound of Silence when everyone was asked to be quiet and they cut the boat’s engine. It is like going back to the very beginning of time when all you can hear is birdsong and distant waterfalls. So peaceful.

Mount Cook: Day Eighty-Two (9 January)

Here's Barnaby and me with Mount Cook in the distance. You can see why the Maori call it Aoraki - 'the cloud piercer'.

Barnaby also had a look through the binoculars at the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre.

Akaroa: Day Eighty (7 January)

The tourist route to Akaroa had lots of bends but the views were wonderful, taking us all round the rim of the extinct volcanic crater that now forms the harbour. (Akaroa means 'long harbour' in the local Maori language.)

We checked into a lovely motel called La Rochelle and had the best fish and chips I've ever tasted for supper (excellent value too).

Here's Barnaby and me with one of the locals :-).

There are three times as many sheep in New Zealand as there are people.

Sydney: Day Seventy-Six (3 January)

The trees in the Botanic Gardens were full of flying foxes hanging upside down. Their other name is Fruit Bats, which is a more accurate description because they are bats and they like to eat fruit, the same as me :-). They are quite at home here, even in the middle of the city.

Blue Mountains: Day Seventy-Five - Part Two (2 January)

I was a bit nervous about riding on the Scenic Train as I'd been warned it was so steep the bag I was in might fall off the seat. Fortunately the seats have been changed to bucket ones so I was all right.

We rode back up in the Skyway cable car. I wasn't as scared as on my first trip on one in Kuranda.

Blue Mountains: Day Seventy-Five - Part One (2 January)

This a menu of all the different kinds of eucalyptus leaves that koalas can eat. It was on display at Featherdale Wildlife Park.

Like people, koalas can be quite fussy and definitely have their favourite types of eucalyptus. That's part of the reason why they have become endangered.
